Roman Bricks
We are regularly asked where we got our bricks and even if they are real bricks or just brick slips. We sourced them from Rangers Tegl, a European brick manufacturer that makes a range of premium handmade bricks. The key standout design element is their dimensions. They are 38mm high by 468mm long, so proportionally they are very different to the standard brick size. One of the reasons people often assume they are brick slips is because they have a proportion that’s often used for internal “fake brick” walls. The bricks do have a lovely effect but they are quite problematic to lay as they have a camber (banana bend) to them which adds an additional complication to laying them. Sam and his team did a great job laying them especially with the 10mm rake which makes the bricks have a 3d effect. The whitening on the bricks is salt from within the brick coming to the surface. This stops after a while and the bricks can then simply be cleaned to remove any lasting residue.
